PRAYER
Let us pray
Lord Jesus Christ
Around us the storms of life are raging,
sometimes we feel that we are going to be overwhelmed.
We feel threatened, scared and vulnerable.
We cry out like Peter, “Lord, save us”
And you are there to hold out your hand and lead us to safety.
All too often we fall short of what you want from us.
You call us to love, instead we find reasons to hate,
You call us to care, yet we turn our backs on the least,
You call us to act justly, then we discriminate according to race or gender,
You call us to embrace our enemies, we respond by building barriers,
You teach us that we are all your children,
only we decide that we are more special than others.
Yet through all our bad choices you still love us, you still forgive us,
you still hold out your hand to lead to the safety of the shore.
Today Father we pray for all those in the eyes of the storms in this world;
The storm of COVID 19 and all who suffer from the disease,
those in the frontline providing care for others
families dealing with the grief of loss
all those facing the uncertainty of the current financial turmoil,
all that they have taken for granted as safe and secure now replaced with doubt and worry.
We pray for our young people as the schools start back and the staff in the schools, for parents worried as to what to expect.
We pray for those who have received their results and have experienced elation and joy and those who now feel disappointment and concern.
We pray for the people of Beirut struggling already with so many issues
Now trying to pick up the pieces of so many killed and injured in a horrific explosion.
So many storms Lord
So many cries of help
Lord Jesus hear the cries of all your children
Holy Spirit grant us strength, love and hope.
In the storms of life may we feel your hand leading us to the safe shore.
Hear us now as a family we pray:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours,
now and for ever.
Amen.
