Baptism

Baptism is symbolic of the cleansing from sin that comes from faith in Jesus Christ and his saving death on the cross. It signifies the presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of the baptised child, thus making the baby one of God’s children. Jesus taught that to be baptised means being included in the covenant of faith that was first initiated by God with Abraham thousands of years ago.

People of the Reformed Tradition believe in the legitimacy of infant baptism. God reaches out to us in grace and love long before we ever know we need God. Being baptised means being spiritually designated as one of God’s beloved children although that person may not become a Christian until the age of 15 or 45 or 75.

If you would like your child to be baptised in Old Gourock and Ashton, please speak to the Locum Minister after any of our Sunday Morning Services.
