A Quarter of a Millennium: Our 250-year journey of Christian witness as a Church of Scotland Parish Church here in Gourock first began in 1776.
Evolution of the Charge: As the changing name of our Church implies, our structural journey has adapted through the centuries. We have grown from the early days of the Gourock parish into Old Gourock & Ashton, and we are now moving forward into a new chapter as the very first charge linked with St. Ninian’s Greenock Parish Church.
A Historic Chain of Ministry: Over this quarter of a millennium, our pulpit has been an anchor for the community. The church has been served by a long line of dedicated leadership, with our current minister marking the 21st distinct ministry in the history of the Gourock charge.
Our Historic Sanctuary: The sacred building we gather and worship in today has stood for nearly two centuries and will officially celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2032.
Generations of Family Stories: Our history is ultimately written by the people who make up the congregation. For generations, local families have woven their own personal milestones into the fabric of the parish—celebrating traditional church weddings, baptisms, and family worship in a continuous line of faith.
